THE SIGNIFICANCE OF DEEP CYCLE BATTERY IN SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

WHAT IS A DEEP CYCLE BATTERY

A deep cycle battery is a lead-acid battery designed to be regularly discharge using most of its capacity and then recharged again. In a battery, one discharge plus one recharge equals one cycle. The advantage of a deep cycle battery is that it can be discharged for up to 90% without significantly affecting the life and performance of the battery. As a result, deep cycle batteries are an ideal solution for applications requiring a long power life.


ADVANTAGE OF GEM DEEP CYCLE BATTERY

GEM deep cycle series batteries are innovated and developed from ordinary AGM batteries with 15 years of float service life. It adopt AGM-GEL technology, complied with IEC60896-21/22 (for stationary installation) and IEC61427-1/2 (for Solar Power PV system) and designed for deep cycle discharge purpose. Selected high-quality AGM separator cooperates with formulated Gelled electrolyte and cyclic-featured thicker plates.


WHY USE DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES IN SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

Deep cycle batteries are used in solar power systems because they can be completely discharge without being damaged as quickly as normal batteries, for for example a normal lead-acid battery can only be discharged at a maximum of 50% to extend its useful life or else these will be damaged very quickly, this characteristic is not only reflected in the useful life time but also in the amount of current stored. If you have a 100 Ah lead-acid battery, you can only have about 50Ah taking into account the characteristics mentioned above , while if you have a 100Ah GEM deep cycle battery, you can enjoy the entire capacity of90-100Ah. It is for this reason that these types of batteries are used in solar systems.


GEM Battery offers deep cycle batteries in 12V and 2V, and they are referred to as GDC Series batteries. It's designed as cyclic deep discharge applications. Depending on your application, you will need to select the appropriate deep cycle battery, which has both the correct voltage and the appropriate ampere capacity.
